EC-Lab Technical Notes 25b: Control of the potential/current signal by an external device Part II : control by a channel of the potentiostat

Latest updated: August 16, 2021

Introduction

A new option is now available with EC-Lab® Express 5.50 (or later) that takes the versatility and modularity of the BioLogic products a step further with regards to external control. BioLogic instruments, via EC-Lab® or ECLab® Express, already have the ability to control an external device as well as record the output of any external device using the analog input/output available on the potentiostat/galvanostat board (described in the Technical Note #21). In such cases, the external device is passive towards the potentiostat (Fig. 1a). This Technical Note, divided in 2 sections, describes how it is now possible, using EC-Lab® Express 5.50 (or later), to use an external device to control the potentiostat/galvanostat. In this scenario, the external device is active towards the potentiostat (Fig. 1b). Note that this option is only available with the SP-300 technology series: SP-200, SP-240, SP-300, and VSP300.
