1983
1983

BioLogic’s corporate history dates back to 1983 when Yves Dupont, a researcher with the CNRS, a national French research organization, set about creating a company to commercialize measurement instruments in the fields of biochemistry, kinetics, and electrophysiology.

1991
1991

Based in the Grenoble area, in the foothills of the French Alps, the company saw a period of sustained but controlled growth before a strategic move to focus on electrochemistry in 1991. A collaboration with two leading researchers, Yves Chabre (Grenoble-Alps University) and Christian Mouget (CNRS), led to an accumulation of know-how and the creation of the MacPile, the world’s first multichannel computer-controlled potentiostat. The MacPile was the precursor to the vast array of potentiostat/galvanostats now available on the market.

1991-2000
1991-2000

Commercially, the 1990s continued to be an important period for rapid-kinetics instruments. This led to the development of the VMP-3 potentiostat/galvanostat, an instrument which has since proven itself as a research “workhorse” in laboratories across the globe.

2007
2007

A strategic shift to focus on energy storage applications in 2007 was the starting point for a period of rapid expansion. From 2007-2016, BioLogic set up six subsidiaries in the USA, India, Singapore, Spain, UK and Germany, and continued to expand its distributor network, in order to ensure that customers get the help they needed, when they needed it.

2009
2009

Launch of BioLogic’s Premium range: Potentiostat/galvanostats that stand out in the marketplace for their high-end analysis capabilities and ultra-fast acquisition speeds.

2014
2014

In 2014 the company launched a range of high-end battery cyclers the BCS-800 series, a portfolio of products targeting high-throughput energy applications.

The company’s success led to a move in 2016 to a new location combining both factory and office space. But as sustained growth continues, in 2022 BioLogic launched a project to extend its headquarters. An additional 1,900 m2 of laboratory and office space will be annexed in 2024, enabling the company to welcome its new employees with the best working conditions.

A truly global footprint

BioLogic has built an extensive international network with 6 subsidiaries and 30 exclusive dealers worldwide to manage our global sales (90% of BioLogic sales are exported). BioLogic affords each of these partners a wide degree of autonomy, enabling them to “think global & act local” thereby answering the specific needs of each territory and ensuring customer satisfaction across the globe.

With you every step of the way.

Whether it is the developers who design your instruments or the account managers who sell them, all our employees will have gained valuable experience within academic or industrial R&D circles – and often, both. It is this experience that helps us understand the importance of measurement instruments to the scientific community.

We have invested heavily in people to develop and support a range of powerful, high-end, high-precision, measurement systems covering both hardware and software – modular solutions designed to give you the best user experience possible, simplify your workflow, reduce your project lead time and drive your research forward.

BioLogic has a rich history of developing innovative, groundbreaking products that have helped to expand the frontiers of science and industry. We designed and developed the world’s first:

  • Computer-controlled multi-channel potentiostat.
  • The world’s first stopped-flow instrument with independent stepping motor technology.
  • Modular instruments with internal boosters.
  • A modular scanning ECM system.
  • Ethernet managed potentiostat/galvanostats.
  • Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) quality indicators.
  • First turnkey solution for electrical characterization.

Think global. Act local.

Wherever you are, we can provide the products and services you need.

The CEO's Foreword

Shaping the future. Together.

When I joined BioLogic as an intern in 1984, it did not occur to me that 14 years later, it would be me that would take up the reins, and lead the company forward as Chief Executive Officer, and later as BioLogic’s holding President. BioLogic began as a small start-up, created in 1983, specializing in niche measurement systems for biological applications. So how did we find ourselves, 40 years later, as a company leading the electrochemistry instrumentation market, with a product portfolio that is managed across the 5 continents?

The answer, and the sustained growth of BioLogic, in my mind, primarily relates to human qualities. For, since the company’s creation, we have always recruited scientists and other employees who are curious and who genuinely care about our customers’ daily challenges. BioLogic employees have often gained experience in public research or industrial environments. They have experienced first-hand, the difficulties that our clients face every day. This leads to a drive to develop longstanding professional relationships with our partners; to better understand the problems they encounter in their research or R&D projects and develop solutions which both make their lives easier and help to break down scientific boundaries.

BioLogic prides itself in the quality and reliability of the products it designs and develops. But this is only really half the story. Because the relationships we develop with our customers once the product has been shipped from our factory are every bit as important as groundbreaking product specifications, academic citations and company reputation.
