BioLogic’s corporate history dates back to 1983 when Yves-Dupont, a researcher with a national French Research Organization (CNRS) set about creating a company to commercialize measurement instruments in the fields of biochemistry, kinetics, and electrophysiology.
Based in the Grenoble area, in the foothills of the French Alps, the company saw a period of sustained but controlled growth before a strategic move to focus on Electrochemistry in 1991. A collaboration with two leading researchers, Yves Chabre (Université Joseph Fourier) and Christian Mouget (CNRS), led to a transfer of know-how and the creation of the MacPile, the world’s first multi-channel computer-controlled potentiostat. The MacPile was the precursor to the vast array of potentiostat/galvanostats now available on the market.
Commercially, the 1990s continued to be an important year for rapid-kinetics instruments and saw the development in R&D terms of the VMP-3 potentiostat/galvanostat, an instrument which has since proven itself as a research “workhorse” in laboratories across the globe.
A strategic shift to focus on energy storage applications in 2007 was the starting point for a period of rapid expansion. From 2007-2016, BioLogic set up six subsidiaries in the USA, India, MEA, Spain, UK, and continued to expand its reseller network, in order to ensure that its customers could get the help they needed, when they needed it.
Launch of BioLogic’s Premium range: Potentiostat/galvanostats that stand out in the market place for their high-end analysis capabilities and ultra-fast acquisition speeds.
In 2014 the company launched a range of high-end battery cyclers the BCS-800 series, a portfolio of products targeting high throughput energy applications.
The company’s success led to a move in 2016 to a new unit combining both factory and office space. With more than twice as much space as its previous home, this move gave BioLogic the much-needed growing room it needed to ensure its continued expansion in the years to come.
