RK-Spectro Technical Note 44: Pulsed flow method for Quench flow experiment

Latest updated: February 17, 2021

Introduction

Pulsed flow method is an interesting method for long time reactions without showing any limitations in time. This new pulsed-flow mode generates turbulent flow even in cases where the mean flow rate would just produce laminar flow, which would require exceeding washing volumes (see Figure 1). The value of the mean flow rate is achieved by varying the frequency of the pulses. The pulsed flow mode also ensures the correct mixing of the reactants across the whole aging-time range.
