Low volume electrochemical cell for Scanning Electrochemical Microscopy on the M470 platform
The Shallow µTriCell™ has been designed for constant-distance scanning probe measurements, like the Intermittent Contact – Scanning ElectroChemical Microscopy (ic-SECM) technique, while still remaining ideal for use with constant height scanning probe measurements, like SECM. It incorporates an extremely flexible sample accommodation platform, designed to take various sample configurations. It mounts conveniently onto the optical table or into a baseplate with a standard optical grid, to maintain a high degree of experimental flexibility. The Shallow µTriCell™ incorporates a unique levelling device to adjust the position of a sample without moving or adjusting the scanning head. This ensures the sample is level during the SECM scan, to achieve the strongest signal throughout.
The Shallow µTriCell™ is composed of a PEEK body for a high degree of chemical compatibility. The provision of a quartz window in the cell allows the positioning of the probe to be monitored with the VCAM3 zoom-lens video microscope system. This aids in the experimental setup by allowing the relative probe to sample the position to be viewed.
The Shallow µTriCell™ for the M470 Scanning Electrochemical Workstations can be used in a variety of practical applications including:
- corrosion monitoring
- development of electrochemical sensors
- screening of fuel cell materials
- measurement of solid state electrolytes
The Shallow µTriCell™ is supplied as a complete kit consisting of the main µTriCell body, 32 mm blanks, O-rings and connection leads. It also includes reference electrodes and counter electrode. Replacement spares and consumables for the cell are available.
