40 years of innovation.
From start-up
to leading global player.
BioLogic has a rich history of developing innovative, groundbreaking products that have helped to expand the frontiers of science and industry. We designed and developed the world’s first:
- Computer-controlled multi-channel potentiostat.
- The world’s first stopped-flow instrument with independent stepping motor technology.
- Modular instruments with internal boosters.
- A modular scanning ECM system.
- Ethernet managed potentiostat/galvanostats.
- Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy Quality Indicators (EIS QI™) .
- First turnkey solution for electrical characterization.

1983
BioLogic’s corporate history dates back to 1983 when Yves Dupont, a researcher with the CNRS, a national French research organization, set about creating a company to commercialize measurement instruments in the fields of biochemistry, kinetics, and electrophysiology.

1991
Based in the Grenoble area, in the foothills of the French Alps, the company saw a period of sustained but controlled growth before a strategic move to focus on electrochemistry in 1991. A collaboration with two leading researchers, Yves Chabre (Grenoble-Alps University) and Christian Mouget (CNRS), led to an accumulation of know-how and the creation of the MacPile, the world’s first multichannel computer-controlled potentiostat. The MacPile was the precursor to the vast array of potentiostat/galvanostats now available on the market.

1991-2000
Commercially, the 1990s continued to be an important period for rapid-kinetics instruments. This led to the development of the VMP-3 potentiostat/galvanostat, an instrument which has since proven itself as a research “workhorse” in laboratories across the globe.

2007-2025
A strategic shift to focus on energy storage applications in 2007 was the starting point for a period of sustained growth. From 2007-2025, BioLogic set up seven subsidiaries in the USA (2007), India (2010), UK (2012), Spain (2015), Singapore (2018), Germany (2019), and Italy (2025), while continuing to expand its distributor network to include 30+ locations, in order to ensure that customers get the help they needed, when they needed it.
